Writing on a Notebook
Discover a new creative writing experience

A new experience for writers

Join writers from across the world in a FOUR day online creative writing festival that offers

  • Creative writing webinars

  • Guest authors

  • Social time (online) to meet fellow authors and share your work in progress

  • Q & A sessions with authors and editors

  • Opportunities for 1-2-1 writers coaching with Maddy Glenn

Softwood is delighted to offer the first in an exciting series of interactive, instructor-led creative writing workshops for adults.

Whether you've already started working on your novel or it's a plan for the future, this intensive four day festival will inspire and motivate you through webinars on the 5 building blocks of creative writing:

  • Character

  • Plot

  • Dialogue

  • Setting

  • Style

The course begins with an informal introduction on Friday 16th October, where you can meet your fellow attendees over a virtual glass of wine on Zoom, meet your course leader, Maddy Glenn, and discuss your writing projects.

Saturday morning includes two webinars with live chat and interactive exercises, with the afternoon available for 1-2-1 coaching sessions with Maddy (see fee structure). The evening will introduce our special guest speaker, Claire Dyer, on a Zoom social call with all the participants, where she will explore how books can be re-energised, taking on a new dynamic through the editing process.

The festival continues on Sunday morning with more opportunities to book an individual coaching session with Maddy. Sunday afternoon sees the remainder of the webinars to complete your learning. We welcome our second guest author (to be announced shortly) on our Sunday evening Zoom social.

The course ends on Monday evening with another Zoom social, with a final Q&A and plenary session.
